HolidayUnder100 is free to read. This page explains how the site is paid for, how we label affiliate links, and what that means for you when you book.
In short: links and booking boxes marked “Ad” are affiliate links. If you book or buy through one, the seller pays us a commission. Your price is the same. We are an independent guide, not a travel agent: we don’t sell holidays, take payments or hold an ATOL.
Who we are
HolidayUnder100 (holidayunder100.co.uk) is an independent UK travel guide. We write guides to cheap holidays, weekend breaks, holiday parks, hostels and hotels, and reviews of UK travel companies. We are not a travel agent or tour operator, and we don’t act for any of the companies we link to.
How we earn money
Affiliate links and booking boxes
Some links, search boxes and deal boxes on the site go to our affiliate partners. When you book or buy through them, the partner pays us a commission. You pay the same price as you would going to the partner directly. Our partners today are:
- Booking.com: hotel links, hotel search boxes and deal boxes.
- Amazon: travel games and other products. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- 12Go: the train, coach and flight ticket table.
If we join other affiliate programmes, we will add them to this list.
Display adverts
The site doesn’t show display adverts at the moment. If we add them, they will be marked as adverts, and this page and our privacy policy will say who provides them.
How we label affiliate links
- Every page with affiliate links says so at the top, before the first link.
- Each affiliate link has an Advertisement mark after it, and each booking or ticket box has an “Ad” line above it.
- Links to sites we don’t earn from, such as official tourist boards, have no mark.
What commission does and doesn’t change
- It doesn’t change your price: the seller pays the commission.
- We don’t accept payment for reviews or for a place in our guides, and we write about places and companies whether or not they pay us.
- If we are ever given a free or discounted stay, product or service, we will say so on that page and mark it as an advert.
- Prices, offers and availability change often. Always check the final price and terms on the seller’s site before you book.
When you book
HolidayUnder100 doesn’t sell holidays or flights, doesn’t take payments and doesn’t hold an ATOL. When you click through and book, your contract is with that company, under its own terms, and it looks after your booking. Booking.com, for example, handles stays booked through our Booking.com links and boxes; we are not its agent.
Any financial protection comes from the company you book with. If your holiday includes a flight:
- check the seller’s name or ATOL number with the Civil Aviation Authority’s ATOL check;
- make sure you receive an ATOL Certificate after you book.
