Away Resorts 2026/27: Parks, Passes and What’s Extra

On this page

Away Resorts runs 25 holiday parks in England, Scotland and Wales, with caravans, lodges, chalets and, at eight parks, camping pitches (touring caravans at some). This guide covers where the parks are, what’s included and what costs extra, and how booking works.

Who runs Away Resorts

Your contract is with Away Resorts Limited (company 06458827), based in Hemel Hempstead. Its own history says Carl Castledine, Neill Ryder and Greg Lashley founded it in 2008, starting with Whitecliff Bay on the Isle of Wight. It grew by buying parks, including Aria Resorts’ parks in 2021.

The private equity firm CVC agreed to buy a majority stake in June 2021. In April 2025 Bloomberg reported that CVC was handing control to its lenders, HPS and Permira’s credit arm. Since 27 June 2025 Companies House has shown a new top company, Ark Newco Limited, which declares no registrable person with significant control. Your booking stays with Away Resorts Limited either way.

The parks and where they are

Away Resorts lists 26 locations, but Glendevon in Perthshire sells residential park homes only. Pools are as listed on Away Resorts’ own pools page.

Most parks list hot tub stays. Chalets are only at St Ives Bay, Whitecliff Bay and Golden Sands, cottages only at The Bay Colwell, and two-person glamping pods only at St Ives Bay. Grades run Value, Comfort, Superior, Luxury, Indulgent and Exclusive. Away Resorts describes its Value range as for budget-conscious guests.

Who it suits, and who it doesn’t

  • Good for families who want a pool and entertainment with no pass to buy, as long as they book direct.
  • Good for dog owners: dogs are allowed at every park, up to two per unit marked pet friendly.
  • Good for flexible dates: you can arrive on any day, all year, for 2 to 14 nights online.
  • Good for campers at the eight parks with pitches, though Mersea Island, Sandy Balls and Newperran take tents only (see our camping holidays guide).
  • Not for evening entertainment everywhere: there is none at Barmouth Bay and only a limited programme at Mersea Island.
  • Not for adult groups or under-21s: stag, hen and other adult party groups need Away Resorts’ agreement first, and it can refuse bookings from under-21s.
  • Not ideal with a dog allergy: the terms say no unit can be guaranteed never to have had a dog in it.
  • Not ideal if you need Wi-Fi in your unit: only some units have it, though every park has hotspots in shared areas.

How prices work

Away Resorts prices change daily with the park, the grade and the dates. Its website asks automated tools not to use its search pages, so this guide gives no example prices: search its site for your own dates and compare the total with the alternatives below. Isle of Wight prices exclude the ferry.

What’s included and what costs extra

Booked direct, the price includes bedding (not on touring or camping pitches; for St Ives Bay’s pods, Away Resorts’ FAQ and pod page disagree, so check when you book), gas and electricity, and a guest pass for the park’s facilities and entertainment. Extras:

  • Dogs: £45 for a break of under 7 nights, £60 for 7 nights or more (its dog page says “from” these prices, per dog); £4 per dog per night on a touring pitch. Assistance dogs are free.
  • Towels: included only in Luxury, Indulgent and Exclusive grades (and some Retallack units); otherwise a small charge.
  • Some activities and gym fitness classes. Most activities open for booking in its app 21 days before you arrive.
  • Ferries to the four Isle of Wight parks, though Away Resorts has arranged reduced crossings with Wightlink and Red Funnel.
  • Smaller charges: late check-out, travel cot hire, a second car at some parks in peak times, and up to £100 for cleaning a hot tub if you add bubble bath or oils.

Renting an owner’s caravan on an Away Resorts park can look cheaper, but you then buy the guest pass. In 2026 an off-peak pass for 2–6 nights, for a unit sleeping up to six, costs £80 at Tattershall Lakes and £32 at Whitecliff Bay. The terms list no booking fee.

Booking, payment and cancellation

You book on the Away Resorts website, by phone or at a park. More than 10 weeks ahead you pay a deposit of at least 10%, then as many payments as you like until the balance is due 10 weeks before arrival. No reminder is sent, and a late balance can cost you the booking and the deposit. Within 10 weeks of arrival you pay in full.

Cancel within 24 hours of the booking confirmation for a full refund. After that, counted back from arrival:

  • 70 days or more: you lose the deposit.
  • 56–69 days: 30% of the holiday cost; 42–55 days: 40%; 29–41 days: 50%.
  • 8–28 days: 90%; 7 days or less: 100%.

Date changes cost an administration fee, aren’t possible within 14 days of arrival and must stay in the same calendar year; if the new dates cost less, there’s no refund.

Its Park Cancellation Plan costs £18 for a 4-berth unit, £26 for a 6-berth and £34 for an 8-berth (£12 for touring). It covers only certified illness, injury or death, jury service, a witness summons or redundancy after two years in a job, and must be added when you book. It isn’t insurance; the terms recommend holiday insurance too.

We found no ABTA or ATOL membership on the pages we read; ATOL covers packages with a flight, so a UK park stay wouldn’t qualify anyway. Paying by credit card adds Section 75 protection for items over £100 (up to £30,000); with a debit card you can ask your bank for a chargeback. Raise problems with Guest Services on park, and put any complaint in writing within 28 days of your stay ending.

How to pay less

  • Try a midweek start: with any-day arrivals you can compare a Monday start with a Friday one for the same park.
  • Avoid peak dates: Away Resorts’ guest-pass price list treats Easter, the early May bank holiday, May half term, the summer holidays, October half term and Christmas as peak; after 1 November 2026, the next peak is 18 December to 4 January 2027.
  • Choose a lower grade or a chalet: Away Resorts aims its Value range at budget-conscious guests and pitches its chalets as a way to stretch a holiday budget. Our cheap caravan holidays guide has more.
  • Book in its own sales: a Black Friday sale ran to 2 December 2025 and an early-booking sale to 8 February 2026, each advertising up to 15% off. Only one offer applies per booking, and none can be added afterwards.
  • Book direct, so the guest pass is included.

Alternatives to Away Resorts

Compare the same dates elsewhere before you pay. Our UK holiday parks guide covers the main names, and we have guides to Haven, Park Holidays UK and Pontins. Shorefield Holidays has parks in Hampshire and Dorset, including one in Swanage. Hoseasons lists places to stay from many operators. For Cornwall, where Away Resorts has five parks, see cheap caravan holidays in Cornwall; for short trips, see 2-night breaks.

How we checked this: this page is research, not a stay. On 30 October 2026 we read Away Resorts’ park pages, booking terms (last updated March 2025), FAQs and guest pass, payment and dog pages. We didn’t run searches in its booking engine, which its website asks automated tools not to use. We checked ownership at Companies House and in reports from CVC and Bloomberg, and protection rules with ATOL and Citizens Advice. Prices change daily, so check the price and terms when you book.

Questions people ask

Is entertainment included at Away Resorts?

Yes, if you book direct: a guest pass for the facilities and entertainment is included. Some activities cost extra. Barmouth Bay has no entertainment and Mersea Island a limited programme.

How much does it cost to take a dog?

From £45 per dog for under 7 nights and from £60 per dog for 7 nights or more, in a pet-friendly unit, with up to two dogs; £4 per dog per night when touring. Some breeds, including the XL Bully, aren’t allowed.

What happens if I cancel?

Within 24 hours of the booking confirmation you get a full refund. After that you lose at least your deposit, and from 69 days before arrival the charge rises from 30% to 100% of the cost.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes. Booking more than 10 weeks ahead, you pay a 10% deposit, then as many payments as you like online until the balance is due 10 weeks before arrival. No reminder is sent.

Do I need to bring towels?

Below Luxury grade, yes, or pay a small charge to add them. Luxury, Indulgent and Exclusive units include towels, except at Moffat Manor, which provides none; at The Bay Filey only Indulgent and Exclusive units have them.

Is there Wi-Fi?

In some units. Every park has hotspots in shared areas, and Away Resorts says full coverage is being rolled out across all parks by the end of 2026.
